What we do

Workpower provides individualised services and disability care to individuals and families through its community support and respite division.

We provide tailored respite services to families and carers giving them the opportunity to take a valuable break from their caring role.

Our programs enable people with disability to be included in their local community, learn and develop lifelong skills and improve independence and well-being.

Respite care can take many forms and can be based in the home or in the community. Below you will find details of the respite care services that we offer.

In Home Respite

Our in home respite service is for carers who need quality time to tend to the needs of other children. It is also for carers who benefit from support during peak times of the day such as mealtimes. This type of respite care has had a positive impact on the families who have accessed this service.

Community Respite

Community Respite

This program provides support for the care recipient to engage in activities that develop social, recreational or vocational goals. This support builds on the recipient’s own personal and social network and provides the opportunity to gain long term respite for the carer.

Situated across the metropolitan area and fully equipped to provide diverse interests, our activity hubs aim to develop the care recipient’s social and emotional wellbeing, life skills and build confidence to engage in future activities.

Why Choose Us?

Why Choose Us?

Every respite program is tailored. Every carer is assigned a personal Case Manager, who will assist in accessing funding and tailoring a respite care plan to meet specific needs and requirements. All plans are responsive and flexibly built around the needs and wishes of the carer and the individual needs of the care recipient.

All of our programs offer a wide variety of recreational, leisure and developmental activities, to encourage individuals to become more independent by gaining life and social skills in a caring and supportive environment.

Testimonials

We have provided much needed respite care to many Western Australians. Here is a sample of what some of our families have to say about the quality of our service:
"He loves the different outings and activities … and it gives me an opportunity to have some spare time throughout the school holidays." Sonia Abrey

I would just like to thank you and your staff for the wonderful service you have provided to myself and my son. My son has been attending the school holiday program provided by Workpower for some years now, having initially heard about it through my LAC. He loves the different outings and activities which gives him an opportunity to access the community and it gives me an opportunity to have some spare time throughout the school holidays. The carers are always so professional and friendly and give my son the support and encouragement he needs. I always get written and verbal feedback about his day and I know he is in good hands as he always comes home with a smile on his face.

It is also great as a parent to be able to be involved in the planning of the service provided to ensure it meets my son’s needs and my requirements such as being able to choose the days he attends and accessing the transport service provided.

So thank you again and I look forward to accessing your services in the next school holidays.
